The Best Paint For Your Bathroom
A little peace of mind can go a long way.
A lot goes into picking the best bathroom paint. It is important not only to pick the right color but the type of paint that you use is possibly one of the biggest paint decisions to make. Humidity is the main concern in a bathroom. Moisture can seep between the paint and the sheet rock or wood resulting in unwanted bubbling and peeling (and other unsightly problems). Paints with a glossy finish, semi-gloss, and even satin finish, form a hard coat that blocks out water, ideally allowing it to drip to the floor rather than seep through to the drywall or wood. Check out some of the best characteristics for bathroom paint below.
Finish: Satin, Semi-Gloss, or Gloss
A satin finish is more durable than eggshell. It is also easier to clean in most paints. Semi-gloss is even tougher if you don’t mind the shinier look. In most well-ventilated bathrooms, a high-quality satin paint with a mildew resistant additive will last for many years to come.
If you have your heart set on a flat, matte, or eggshell finish for your bathroom make sure that it is a low sheen paint specifically created to withstand the moisture in a bathroom environment.
Additive
Mildew-Resistant Additive is helpful to have not only in the paint, but the primer as well.
